The acclaimed Akron author will discuss his latest book, Furnishing Eternity, a powerful memoir about confronting mortality, surviving loss, and finding resilience in one's Midwest roots.
Author David Giffels will visit to discuss his heartfelt memoir, Furnishing Eternity: A Father, a Son, a Coffin, and a Measure of Life. With wisdom and humor, Giffels shares his own intimate story of grappling with a year bowed by loss and pursuing an unusual woodworking project with his aging father.
His previous books include The Hard Way on Purpose: Essays and Dispatches From the Rust Belt, a New York Times Book Review “Editor’s Choice” and nominee for the PEN/Diamonstein-Spielvogel Award for the Art of the Essay, and the memoir All the Way Home, winner of the Ohioana Book Award.
