Ornithologist Ryan John Trimbath will introduce us to the 20+ different warbler species that migrate to breed in Ohio’s forests, fields, meadows, and wetlands each spring and how to locate them.
Did you know in Ohio we have over 20 species of Warblers that migrate thousands of miles to breed in our forest, fields, meadows and wetlands every spring? These tiny birds come in many shapes and colors weighing less than ½ ounce, each species sing their own unique songs and nest everywhere from under leaf litter on the forest floor to high atop the tree canopy. This program will introduce you to these gems of the natural world, we will learn about their ecology (where they live, what they eat, etc.) and everything you need to know to find these birds on your own.
Ryan started studying birds while working on his B.S. in Wildlife and Conservation Biology at Ohio University over 10 years ago. Since then he has worked throughout Ohio and abroad (New Hampshire, Wisconsin, Oregon and Hawaii) to study avian ecology and conservation. Ryan’s interest and area of study has broadened to include forest ecology, deer, feral cats, and endangered seabirds but he just can’t seem to get away from warblers. He is now a Doctoral Candidate at the University of Akron.
