A new poetry open mic, moderated by the City of South Euclid's first Poet Laureate, "Doc" Janning.
Calling all poets! Join us for a new poetry open mic every second Sunday of the month. It's open to all poets, 18 and over. We'll follow a round-robin format, with a featured reader to begin. You may bring more than one poem to read.
Featured reader: Ohio Poet Laureate Dave Lucas.
Dave Lucas is the author of Weather (VQR / Georgia, 2011) which received the 2012 Ohioana Book Award for Poetry. In 2018, he was appointed the second Poet Laureate of the State of Ohio. A co-founder of Cleveland Book Week and of Brews + Prose at Market Garden Brewery, he lives in Cleveland, where he was born and raised, and teaches at CWRU.
M.A. "Doc" Janning was sworn in as the City of South Euclid's inaugural Poet Laureate in October 2018. Doc grew up in East Cleveland and, after graduating from Western Reserve University and the Ohio College of Podiactric Medicine, became a Podiatrist. He's been active in the Boy Scouts of America for over 40 years. He also writes fiction, memoir, and nonfiction. His Facebook page, "Tears of My Soul," has nearly 6000 followers worldwide.
