Join us for this special event in partnership with the Strongsville Historical Society.
The Strongsville Historical Society and the Strongsville Branch Library have partnered for this special talk on real life accounts from World War II. A short Strongsville Historical Society meeting will be held prior to the presentation. Light refreshments will be provided at this free event. All are welcome!
Ever wonder what it was like to be a soldier on the western front of World War II? Ever wonder what it was like for someone who lived in England at the time their village was blitzed? Please join us as we continue our series of programs in honor of the 75th anniversary of D-Day, and welcome World War II veteran John Simanella and Strongsville Historical Society member Sylvia Pakish as they recount their personal stories from the second World War. Mr. Simanella is a member of our local VFW Post 3345 and flew over 30 missions as a gunner on a B-24 bomber, and Mrs. Pakish was a civilian living in England with her family when the Germans bombed their village.
Guests are invited to bring artifacts that they would like to display and share with those in attendance. Light refreshments will be provided at this free event. All are welcome! Registration is requested.
