America's librarian visits to discuss her latest, George and Lizzie.

Join us as NPR books commentator and "America's librarian" Nancy Pearl visits to share her debut novel, George and Lizzie. With pitch-perfect prose and compassion and humor to spare the book is an intimate story of new and past loves the scars of childhood and an imperfect marriage at its defining moments. Widely respected in the literary community Pearl received the 2011 Librarian of the Year Award from Library Journal and regularly speaks to organizations around the world about the pleasures of reading. Books will be available for purchase and signing courtesy of Mac's Backs - Books on Coventry.

Kamal Abdul-Alim and The Real Thing Band present an afternoon of jazz music for your enjoyment. Originally from Cleveland Kamal is a composer and performer who works in the cross-pollinating idioms of Jazz and African Music. He studied at the Berkley School of Music in Boston and the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. As a performer he has spent time in New York Paris California China and Japan. The Real Thing Band includes Kamal on trumpet Larry Hancock on drums Cecile Rucker on vibes Dan Myers on keyboards and Kevin Muhammed on bass. This program is funded by the Jazz Foundation of America and will include a short lecture as well as a concert. Registration preferred. Call 216-831-6868 for more details.

Local author D.M. Pulley "The Dead Key" (2015) & "The Buried Book" (2016) will discuss her latest novel "The Unclaimed Victim." In the book set in 1938 at the height of the Great Depression a madman hunts his victims through the hobo jungles of Cleveland. Ethel Harding a prostitute struggling to survive both the cold streets and the Torso Killer takes refuge with a missionary sect only to find that its righteous faade conceals the darkest of secrets. Sixty years later the police find the butchered body of Alfred Wiley in the woods. But before his daughter Kris can even identify the remains things he never told her begin to surface one by onea mysterious private eye whod been tracking him an eerie website devoted to the unsolved Torso murders missing archives stolen books and an abandoned Bible factory harboring vagrants. The more she learns about her fathers obsession with the Torso Killer the more Alfreds death appears to be related pulling Kris further into Clevelands hellish past.
