The Master Inspired Art Workshop is an interactive art program in which you will not only learn about a classic artist but also create art inspired by their work. The workshop begins with a thirty-minute overview of the featured artist followed by a project overview and a ninety-minute step by step workshop to create your own masterpiece using the highest quality art supplies. In addition to your very own master work of art each student will receive a biographical overview of the artist including their featured works of art and a notecard memento. For this program our featured artist is Gustav Klimt the 19th century Austrian painter known for the highly decorative style of his works. A controversial figure in his time his art was constantly criticized for being too psycho sensual. Today his artwork stands out as a visual symphony and they are regarded as the most important paintings ever to come out of Vienna. The artist is perhaps best known for his works The Kiss and The Portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer I which was the subject of the film Women in Gold starring Helen Mirren and Ryan Reynolds. The focus in much of his art was that of luxuriant ornamentation and is evident in The Tree of Life illustrating a magical symbol of our inner spirit and the richness of our existence. We will recreate Klimt's painting using sumptuous materials to paint the elaborate lines and the symbolic images that represent the gifts that encompass our lives. Please join us for this truly enriching art experience. Presented with the support of the Friends of the Beachwood Library. Registration required. Call 216-831-6868 for more details.
