Four-part series about writing books for children, focusing on chapter books and middle grade novels.
In these four interactive classes, we'll explore writing for the world's most passionate and devoted readers: children. Focusing on chapter books and middle grade novels, we'll discuss the basics of word count and subject matter, and also examine larger concerns of character, world building, plot and theme. Each class will begin with a writing exercise, and questions on both craft and publishing will be welcome throughout.
Tricia Springstubb is the author of books for kids of all ages, including the middle grade novels What Happened on Fox Street, Moonpenny Island, and Every Single Second (all HarperCollins), the chapter books series Cody and the Fountain of Happiness, and the picture books Phoebe and Digger and Khalil and Mr. Hagerty and the Backyard Treasures (all Candlewick Press).
