About the author:

Thrity Umrigar is the author of the bestseller The Space Between Us and its recently released sequel, The Secrets Between Us, as well as many other acclaimed novels. Her debut picture book, When I Carried You in My Belly, was published in 2017. She lives outside Cleveland.

In Sugar in Milk, a young immigrant girl joins her aunt and uncle in a new country that is unfamiliar to her. One day, as the girl and her aunt take a walk, the girl’s aunt begins to tell her an old myth. The folktale that follows was a part of author Thrity Umrigar’s Zoroastrian upbringing as a Parsi child in India, but resonates for children of all backgrounds, especially those coming to a new homeland.

Thrity Umrigar will be in conversation with Tricia Springstubb. She is the author of books for kids of all ages, including the picture books Phoebe and Digger and Khalil and Mr. Hagerty and the Backyard Treasures. A frequent speaker at schools and libraries, Tricia lives in Cleveland Heights.
