Join NASA scientists for this virtual series in a practical robotics and coding activity to learn about and celebrate the landing of the Perseverance rover on Mars.

In this virtual series (held via Zoom) you will join NASA scientists in a practical robotics and coding activity to learn about and celebrate the Mars 2020 Mission, and the landing of the Perseverance rover on Mars.

During the February 17th, March 3rd, and March 17th sessions participants will work with NASA volunteers to code Lego EV3 robots to complete a mission similar to the goals of NASA's Mars 2020 Perseverance Rover. Participants will explore relevant concepts including Astrobiology, depot caching, and the difficulties of interplanetary communication.

Also, on February 18th from 3pm to 4pm participants are invited to attend an optional virtual watch party for the landing of the Perseverance Rover which is scheduled to take place at approximately 3:30pm on February 18th. NASA representatives will be present during this watch party to provide context and answer questions.

For more information about NASA's Mars 2020 Mission and the landing of the Perseverance Rover, including a landing countdown, checkout this link

This class will be held virtually using Zoom. Participants will be contacted by staff with a meeting link to access the class.

Facilitators will be available for optional setup, and technical assistance 15 minutes prior to each program in the series.

Registration and an email address are required to receive the link to participate. A meeting link will be emailed to registered participants approximately one hour prior to the start of the program. You will need a computer with audio and/or video and an internet connection to join and participate.

Due to high demand for the program, please contact the library if your child can no longer attend a session. That will open the opportunity to another student on the waitlist. A parent/guardian must sign a release form prior to the program. Participants may be recorded and/or surveyed to capture program's effectiveness. More information can be found at cuyahogalibrary.org/parent-options.
