William Eichenberg President of the Olmsted Falls Historical Society will give a talk on the RMS Lusitania. RMS Lusitania at 2:10 p.m., May 7, 1915, the "Greyhound of the Seas" was torpedoed ten miles off teh coast of Ireland. The Lusitania carried 48 lifeboats - but only six were afloat after the ship went down. The Lusitania sank in 18 minutes, taking 1,198 with her. THre years earlier RMS Titanic sank in two and half hours after having 300 foot (the length of a football field) of damage done to her starboard side.
