Learn how to make Chicago-style giardiniera, a savory Italian blend of pickled vegetables.

Learn how to make Chicago-style giardiniera in this hands-on cooking class at the library. Attendees will take home a small jar of freshly canned giardiniera. The library will also have prepared giardiniera for everyone to try with Italian roast beef sliders. Registration is required.

Ingredients include:

  • Cauliflower
  • Carrots
  • Celery
  • Red bell pepper
  • Serrano chiles
  • Garlic
  • Dill
  • Coriander seeds
  • White wine vinegar
  • Water
  • Sugar
  • Canning and pickling salt
  • Ball Pickle Crisp

About the branch

The Fairview Park Branch originally operated out of a small storefront on Lorain Road. Today, the building is large enough to support a book capacity of 147,000 volumes. The branch also features a beautiful travel-themed children’s area complete with a miniature Eiffel Tower and airplanes, and an Innovation Center maker space.
