For this special lecture-demonstration, acclaimed violinist-educator-composer Steven Greenman will discuss and perform instrumental folk music known as “klezmer music.”
Steven Greenman will discuss the historical background of the traditional Jewish East European instrumental folk music known as “klezmer music” and its role in the traditional East European Jewish wedding. Steven will perform examples of the diverse klezmer music repertoire including the bountiful dance repertoire and the artistic listening music that was played to entertain and greet the wedding guests.
