Join the ReelAbilities Film Festival: Cleveland for America's Workforce: Empowering All, featuring a screening of the film Bottom Dollars.
Join us for a screening of Bottom Dollars, a film about labor exploitation and people with disabilities. The 1938 Fair Labor Standards Act created the revolutionary workers’ rights protection: the minimum wage. Yet as the film uncovers, Section 14(c) still provides a terrible and abusive exemption that allows employers to pay “special minimum wages”—wages less than the Federal minimum wage—“to workers who have disabilities.”
This eye-opening documentary exposes this practice while presenting new employment alternatives with competitive wages and community inclusion for workers of all abilities. The screening will be followed by a panel discussion with local stakeholders.
This screening event is free and open to the public. No preregistration is required.
