Learn about line breaks in poetry and how to use them.
In this workshop, we will discuss the function of the line in open form poetry, and how to use line breaks to produce desired effects in your work. Our discussion of line breaks will center on Denise Levertov's essay, "On the Function of the Line." Participants are encouraged to read her essay prior to the workshop, and to bring a printed copy of the essay to the workshop. Participants should also bring a notebook or paper and a writing utensil.
You can access a free online PDF of Denise Levertov's, "On the Function of the Line," here: https://www.sas.upenn.edu/~cavitch/pdf-library/Levertov_Function_of_Line.pdf
