Explore the fascinating connection between comic books and mental health in this presentation by Valentino Zullo.
See other dates and locations for this program on our events calendar.
This presentation will explore the ways that comics have both documented and responded to the shifting landscape of mental health in America in the 20th and 21st centuries. From the creation of Wonder Woman to the post-war horror comics, to Spider-Man and the Joker, the medium and its creator have long been invested in exploring and better understanding the mind.
Valentino Zullo is Assistant Professor of English and the Anisfield-Wolf Fellow in English and Public Humanities at Ursuline College. He is also a licensed independent social worker in psychoanalytic training at the Cleveland Psychoanalytic Center.

For 15 years until 1955, the Olmsted Falls Branch was located in Town Hall and shared a room with the Village Council in the Police Department. After later operating out of a 3,100-square-foot frame cottage donated by the Olmsted Community Church, the library moved to a site provided by the city and designed specifically for library use. Today, the branch offers a full-service drive-up window, community meeting space and cozy reading areas.
