This program is aimed at adults as we share strategies for reading books with very young children, and explore Novelist and Bookflix, two CCPL Databases which support young readers.

  • Learn about read-aloud/together strategies which support thinking, creativity, language & learning for young children.  
  • Learn strategies for choosing and finding appropriate and useful books for children, using the library catalog and Novelist.  
  • Discuss the idea of pairing fiction/nonfiction books, and play with Bookflix, to see some examples of pairings.. 
  • Browse a display which highlights some appropriate titles.
  • This program is aimed at adults, but children may attend an accompanying activity.

About the branch

The Fairview Park Branch originally operated out of a small storefront on Lorain Road. Today, the building is large enough to support a book capacity of 147,000 volumes. The branch also features a beautiful travel-themed children’s area complete with a miniature Eiffel Tower and airplanes, and an Innovation Center maker space.
