About the event:

Join us for an event for book lovers! We will talk books with James Mustich, author of 1,000 Books to Read Before You Die, the compulsively readable, entertaining and surprising book that celebrates the greatest books of all time, from Harold and the Purple Crayon to the works of Shakespeare to sci-fi classics like Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? There’s something for every reader.

Each of our five combatants will advocate for their favorite books, vying for the hearts and minds of the audience members. Attendees will then vote to name the champion!

Our literary gladiators are Mary Bly (aka, best-selling Regency and Georgian romance author Eloisa James), Anne Bogel (host of the podcast What Should I Read Next?), Andromeda Romano-Lax (journalist, travel writer, and author of historical fiction), Donna Seaman (book reviewer and Editor for Adult Books at Booklist), and Thrity Umrigar (journalist, critic, and best-selling author).
