This event will be held virtually on Zoom.
In this presentation, learn why African artists use animals and other symbols as points of reference in mask-making, and how masks are used in ceremonies. Discussion includes select examples from countries in the Sub-Saharan region, and a closer look at the materials used, as well as the role these masks play in life and seasonal cycles.
A meeting link will be emailed to registered participants approximately one hour prior to the start of the program. Staff will be available for help with connecting to Zoom and technical issues beginning 15 minutes prior to the program.
