This event will be held virtually on Zoom.
Jack Patton uses the prism of the six murders attributed to Jack the Ripper to look at the underside of Victorian society, often portrayed as a model of propriety. The talk looks at prostitution, substance abuse, and poverty, and how the horrific murders sparked public interest in these problems and helped crate support for various reform movements.
