This event will be held virtually on Zoom.
This talk will discuss the concept of mirrors in medieval Europe, as seen in countless works of art and literature. Symbols of vanity and pleasure, mirrors and other reflective surfaces were represented across later medieval art; we will look at these images with a special focus on representations of Narcissus, personifications of Lust, and marriage portraits. We will also showcase one of the pieces from the Cleveland Museum of Art.
A meeting link will be emailed to registered participants approximately one hour prior to the start of the program. Staff will be available for help with connecting to Zoom and technical issues beginning 15 minutes prior to the program. You will need a device with audio and/or video and an internet connection to join.
