Join us when author Bob Abelman visits to discuss his Cleveland theater-based novellas.
About the author:
Bob Abelman is an award-winning theater critic and entertainment feature writer in Cleveland, Ohio, which has the second-largest theater district in the U.S. after New York City. He is also a professional actor who, as a younger man, appeared on Broadway and so far off-Broadway it was Connecticut.
In All The World's A Stage Fright, critic Asher Kaufman takes an acting role in As You Like It in a stunt to boost readership for the Cleveland Jewish Chronicle and gets more of a story than he bargained for. Despite a debilitating Shakespeare phobia, he must share the stage with actors he’s panned in the past and avoid getting panned himself by fellow critics.
Then in the sequel, Murder, Center Stage, Asher Kaufman again takes an acting role for his newspaper and finds himself in the middle of an unscripted, onstage, opening night murder in Sweeney Todd. Asked by police to help their investigation, he now must find out which of his quirky castmates is a killer. They all claim innocence, but he knows firsthand: they could just be acting.
Bob Abelman will be in conversation with professional actor Marc Moritz, who is currently playing Judge Turpin in Rubber City Theatre's production of Sweeney Todd.
