Please join us for this informative and entertaining monthly program about the music, history, story and performance of classic Operas with Dr. Michael Blauner.
June 26. "Operatic Adventures: Weather Can Affect Health & Opera Plots!" Weather has been an element in several opera plots. The music accompanying the storms, sunshine, snow storms, and winds can be terrifying, exciting, and--above all--melodious. Enjoy the music but please no saluting or marching around the library.
July 24. "Operatic Adventures: How To Attend European Summer Music Festivals Without Paying." Each summer, Europe becomes one big music festival. I will show operatic excerpts from festivals in Paris, Berlin, and Orange. The settings are as beautiful as the music. Feel free to applaud these world famous artists as they regale you with their glorious voices.
August 21. "Operatic Adventures: Hail Brittania." Each summer, Great Britain proves it is great by staging a concert series in the majestic Royal Albert Hall. The final night of each series has become a national institution. Opera singers are the usual guests. We will feature the artistry of Renee Fleming, Juan Diego Florez, and Nina Stemme.
