Six-month fiction writing workshop focusing on novels and long fiction.
This fiction writing workshop will meet once a month for six months to explore the elements of craft and to learn to give, guide, and receive feedback on works in progress. We will focus primarily on writing/structuring longer fiction.
Each month (excluding the first meeting), two writers will submit pages/chapters up to 4,000 words (about 15 pages) to be workshopped. (So participants must commit to reading and critiquing up to 8,000 words/30 pages each month.) Writers will be invited to help guide the agenda for feedback about their own work. It's important to the workshop process that we create a community of writers who know and trust each other, so please commit to attending at least five of the six classes. Space is limited and registration is required.
Susan Petrone is the author of the novels The Heebie-Jeebie Girl (2020), The Super Ladies (2018), Throw Like a Woman (2015), and A Body at Rest (2009). She is a recipient of an Ohio Arts Council Individual Excellence Award for fiction. She has been published in such diverse venues as Glimmer Train, ESPN.com, Belt, and Whiskey Island. Her short story, “Monster Jones Wants to Creep You Out” (Conclave, 2010) was nominated for a Pushcart Prize. She is also one of the co-founders and former president of Literary Cleveland (litcleveland.org).

The City of South Euclid will conduct a resurfacing project on South Green Road between Mayfield Road and Cedar Road that we anticipate will result in travel delays. The resurfacing project is expected to begin Monday, April 3, 2023, and continue through late fall. During that time, we encourage all visitors to the South Euclid-Lyndhurst Branch of Cuyahoga County Public Library to plan accordingly and allow themselves ample travel time. The South Euclid-Lyndhurst Branch will remain open for normal hours of operation during construction.
