How to Motivate Yourself to Confidently Navigate Today's Job Search Process

WEEK #1 DESCRIPTION

Whether you are a recent high school or college graduate, a job seeker who has recently lost your job, or someone that wants to make a career transition, or reenter the workforce after an extended break -- know that you are not alone! Change is inevitable throughout life, but sometimes your motivation can make it challenging for you to make your transition seamless. Since finding a job is such an integral part of life, finding, losing, or obtaining one can take a toll on you. In this session, we will discuss things that can help you get through the range of emotions you may experience while navigating today’s workforce so that you can become and remain motivated to make your next move!

Tips on Leveraging Your Strengths, Skills, and Experience to Obtain a New Job

WEEK #2 DESCRIPTION

Job seekers are often asked to explain who they are and what is important to them in their resumes, during job interviews, and when networking. Some find it a challenge because they have not yet defined what their strengths, skills, and experiences amount to professionally. In this session, we will discuss ways to explore and capitalize on your strengths, skills, and experiences in order to get the job or career you want.

Top Things an Employer Wants from Job Seekers?

WEEK #3 DESCRIPTION – Evaluations and Celebration

When looking for a job it is sometimes difficult to understand exactly what employers are looking for. Are employers seeking someone with practical experience or is education the primary desire? In this session, we will discuss how employers determine the candidates they want to bring in for an interview and ultimately hire for the job.

Steps for a Successful Job Search

WEEK #4 DESCRIPTION

There are many ways to search for a job, but some ways may be more effective than others, depending on what field a person is in. In this session, we will discuss popular job search strategies, websites, professional networking groups, and ways you can access the “hidden job market”. Another important factor is knowing what is in your own backyard. For example, healthcare is one of the top industries in the Greater Cleveland area and makes up about 15% of all jobs. Job seekers will learn how to customize their job search towards employers they really want to work for, and also, how to research companies so that they can stand out during job interviews.

**ONE WEEK BREAK**

SERIES TWO

Networking Your Way to the Job You Want

WEEK #5 DESCRIPTION

Ever ask yourself, “Does networking really work?” Well, research studies have shown that nearly 75% of job seekers obtain employment through networking. If this is true, you definitely want to know how to leverage connections and identify opportunities that will allow you to effectively network your way to a new job by knowing the most current trends.

Creating Winning Cover Letters, Résumés, and LinkedIn Profiles

WEEK #6 DESCRIPTION

Cover letters and Résumés are among the most popular ways for job seekers to provide employers with details about their professional experiences, qualifications, and more. In this session, we will discuss basic information that you should know in order to make the best impression on recruiters, human resources, and hiring managers through your cover letter and résumé.

Social Media and Your Job Search

WEEK #7 DESCRIPTION

Recruiters and employers use social media to market their companies, advertise employment opportunities, research candidates, and to communicate with potential candidates. Join us as we share information about popular social media platforms that job seekers and employers use, both for the purpose of creating a professional online presence/brand and using it to find what they want, a job or new hire. While it is not required, it would be helpful to be familiar with different social media platforms or at least be open to learning about them with the understanding that you will have to test them out to see if they will benefit you.

Steps to Effective Job Interviewing

WEEK #8 DESCRIPTION – Evaluations and Celebration

Getting asked to interview is what all job candidates hope for. However, the mere thought of interviewing can be both exciting and anxiety-provoking. In this session, job seekers will learn what they need to do before, during, and after the interview. Job seekers will also, have an opportunity to practice interviewing and receive feedback.
