Entering Grades 3 - 6 with father or father figure. Work together to design and build your own wind-powered lifting device inspired by the book, "The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind" by William Kamkwamba.
The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind is the true story of a boy from Malawi who built a windmill to bring water and electricity to his village, just with the information from a library book. Families are encouraged to read the story prior to the event. Pick up a copy at the Parma-Powers Branch starting May 1st. William's story is available as a book, a shortened version for younger readers and as an audiobook. The documentary film, William and the Windmill, is available on Kanopy with your library card.
