In The Spectacular, nineteen-year-old Marion Brooks is on track to live the quintessential 1950s life. A stunning beauty, she has a doting boyfriend poised to propose at any moment and provide her with the future that’s expected of a young woman like her. A gifted dancer with aspirations beyond homemaking, she feels stifled by the life everyone has mapped out for her. So when she comes across the opportunity to audition for the Radio City Rockettes, she jumps at the chance.
As Marion adjusts to the realities of life as a new Rockette—both exhilarating and exhausting—the city is on edge as “the Big Apple Bomber” continues to plant bombs in popular, crowded spaces. When he targets Radio City, Marion finds herself pulled into the investigation alongside a new acquaintance, Dr. Peter Griggs, who believes a radical new technique, psychological profiling, is the key to identifying the bomber. What ensues is a daring and dangerous plan to catch the madman, forcing Marion to sacrifice everything she’s worked for, as well as the people she loves most.
