Visit the Parma-Powers Branch to explore the world of blue whales and learn about our unique local wildlife. See the life-size whale-tail floor mat or take part in a whale-themed program.

  • See the life-size blue whale tail floor covering and measure yourself against the life-size image of a fossilized Dunkleosteus skull.
  • See the short film, Blue Whales: Return of the Giants or explore a whale interactive. 
  • Learn about blue whale size and anatomy from posters by author Yuliya Barannikova and artist Teti︠a︡na Kopytova. 
  • Read books about whales, the ocean and conservation in a variety of languages.  More titles in the Blue Whales display!
  • Teachers may contact the Children’s Room to schedule a field trip. 
  • Visit Blue Whales at Your Library between March 29 and April 8 to receive a mini blue whale charm.  While supplies last.  Grades K and up.
  • Krill in a Jar estimation contest for kids Grades K – 8 through April 15. Win binoculars or a hand-held microscope, courtesy of Lakeshore Learning.-

About the branch

Located across from University Hospitals Parma Medical Center and adjacent to city hall, the Parma-Powers Branch offers a full service drive-up window, community meeting spaces and an interactive children’s area featuring artwork by beloved writer/illustrator Rosemary Wells.

This branch is a Student Success Center and a Greater Cleveland Food Bank Kids Café location.
