Step by step with a seasoned journalist
Christopher Johnston will take you step by step through the nonfiction book process by sharing his experience with his new book, Shattering Silences: Strategies to Prevent Sexual Assault, Heal Survivors, and Bring Assailants to Justice (Skyhorse, 2018). He’ll discuss how to identify and flesh out an idea; research, report, interview and shadow; develop the book idea; write the proposal; find an agent; write the manuscript; go through the editing; and, finally, launching and promoting. He’ll also explain how a story can evolve as you immerse yourself in your subject.
Christopher Johnston has published more than 3,000 articles in numerous regional and national publications, ranging from Cleveland Magazine, Crain’s Cleveland Business, and The Plain Dealer to American Theatre, Balanced Living, Christian Science Monitor, History Magazine, and Scientific American.

The City of South Euclid will conduct a resurfacing project on South Green Road between Mayfield Road and Cedar Road that we anticipate will result in travel delays. The resurfacing project is expected to begin Monday, April 3, 2023, and continue through late fall. During that time, we encourage all visitors to the South Euclid-Lyndhurst Branch of Cuyahoga County Public Library to plan accordingly and allow themselves ample travel time. The South Euclid-Lyndhurst Branch will remain open for normal hours of operation during construction.
