This 60-minute presentation, appropriate for general audiences, provides an overview of signs and symptoms of common mental disorders among adults, reduces stigma by sharing facts about mental health, highlights coping strategies and how to manage a crisis, and outlines strategies for communicating with more empathy with individuals with mental illness in one’s personal or professional life.
Matt Gesicki is the community outreach and education coordinator with NAMI Greater Cleveland. He coordinates a variety of outreach and education programs and activities to provide information about mental health to community partners in greater Cleveland. His previous experience includes working in various nonprofit roles in the hospice, higher education and social justice fields. He is a passionate advocate for individuals experiencing mental illness and their families and friends.
