A new poetry open mic, moderated by the City of South Euclid's first Poet Laureate, "Doc" Janning.
Calling all poets! Join us for a new poetry open mic every second Sunday of the month. It's open to all poets, 18 and over. We'll follow a round-robin format, with a featured reader to begin. You may bring more than one poem to read.

Christine Howey is a performance poet, playwright, actor, director, theater critic (named Best Critic in Ohio by both the Press Club of Cleveland and the Society of Professional Journalists), and is currently the Executive Director of Literary Cleveland, a nonprofit organization supporting writers and readers in Cleveland and Northeast Ohio. Christine (then Richard) was an actor and director at Dobama Theatre from 1968 to 1985. Her one-person poetic stage play about her transgender journey, Exact Change, premiered at Cleveland Public Theatre, had a three-week run at Playhouse Square in Cleveland, and was an official selection of the 2015 New York International Fringe Festival. Christine has had four books of poetry published, was the Poet Laureate of Cleveland Heights for 2016-2018, and a slam poet who competed in the National Poetry Slams in 2013 and 2017 on the four-person Cleveland team.
Host M.A. "Doc" Janning was sworn in as the City of South Euclid's inaugural Poet Laureate in October 2018. Doc grew up in East Cleveland and, after graduating from Western Reserve University and the Ohio College of Podiactric Medicine, became a Podiatrist. He's been active in the Boy Scouts of America for over 40 years. He also writes fiction, memoir, and nonfiction. His Facebook page, "Tears of My Soul," has nearly 6000 followers worldwide.
