Do you have dreams of visiting parts of the world still untouched by humans? Local artist Tom Hanicak lived that dream for ten days when he ventured deep into the Tongass National Forest of Alaska as an artist in residence with the National Forest Service Rangers. There, Tom was immersed in the beauty of the Kootznoowoo Wilderness, whose unblemished earth, sea, and skies are home to grizzly bears, bald eagles, marine wildlife, and other assorted creatures that still roam free, unencumbered by concrete, steel, and industrial fumes. Tom will share his exciting experience—and the art it inspired—at this special presentation.

This program is part of the 2024 Cleveland Humanities Festival.
