The highly productive wetlands ecosystem supports aquatic and terrestrial plants and animals, providing a nesting habitat in the summer and resting/feeding habitat for migrating waterfowl and passerines (perching birds) in spring and fall. This presentation showcases iconic wetland species like Egrets, Herons, Ibis and Rails along with raptors, waterfowl, warblers and more. Stick around for a bonus section focusing on insects, reptiles, amphibians and mammals that make the wetlands their home.

About the branch

The Gates Mills Branch became a part of the Cuyahoga County Public Library system in 1948. At the time, the branch operated out of the Southwick House, a former residence that was converted into a historic site. The branch’s current home is a 3,500-square-foot building that is the cornerstone of the Gates Mills downtown revitalization.
